Craig’s Story: Turning Adversity Into Action
In September 2022, at just 40 years old, Craig Maxwell received life-changing news: he was diagnosed with a rare genetic form of lung cancer, EGFR+, which had also spread to his bones. His diagnosis was Stage 4, inoperable, and incurable, forever altering the lives of Craig, his wife Tracey, and their two children, Isla (12) and Zach (8).
With four devastating words—“You have incurable cancer”—their future was taken away. But rather than letting this diagnosis define their remaining time, Craig and Tracey made a profound choice: to focus their energy on creating change, raising vital funds to improve cancer diagnosis and treatment pathways in Wales.
Through their determination, Craig, Tracey, and their incredible network of supporters have raised nearly £1.6 million for the Velindre Cancer Centre. Their efforts are already making a significant impact, and their story continues to inspire hope.
A Legacy of Strength and Purpose
While Craig won’t be able to witness the milestones in his children’s future, he’s showing Isla and Zach the power of resilience and collective action. Through his courage and determination, Craig is leaving behind a legacy of strength, purpose, and compassion that will inspire others for generations to come.
